I slept most of the day today, unable to move myself from my
bed. As long as I didn't try to sit up, get out of bed, move,
or breathe, I was fine. I eventually rolled myself out of bed
and crawled to the shower where I flopped into a small puddle
of water. I was supposed to go do some stuff with Thomas Hollingsworth
in preparation for this weekend's LAN party, brought to you by
Damage LAN,
but I could hardly move as it was. Later in the afternoon, Travis
Simpson came over, bored of sitting around by himself. I formatted
my computer a couple times, losing a couple months worth of E-Mail
in the process, but finally getting my computer back up to a point
where I can start re-trashing and personalizing it to the way
I like it. A little while later, he went to pick up Angie Jennings
and go to Four Seasons to talk to Lisa Horan about going up to
Mt. Nebo tomorrow and just having everyone spend the night at
Travis's tonight. They eventually came back, but I had to go out
and do some yard work. As I mowed the lawn, they went out to return
a movie. I finished up my yard work and swam for a short while.
He came back to drop off Angie, and then left to clean up his
house. Angie and I sat in my room trying to find Mallory McKinney
so we could talk about our plans tomorrow. As things turned out,
everyone is staying home tonight, and we'll just gather up bright
and early tomorrow morning. Mallory got a 3-way call going between
she, Angie, and me. Shortly after we had started talking, Travis
called me to check on things. At first, Lisa was going to come
along, but then finally decided not to. The four of us will just
rise with the sun tomorrow and drive up the mountain for a nice
climb. I spent the early part of the night reinstalling things
on my computer to make it more homey. I eventually got showered
and ready to rest before our big day of climbing big rocks. I'm
still sore from working yesterday, so if I don't have tomorrow's
log up within the next couple of days, it's safe to assume I fell.
Goodnight.

I got up early this morning and got ready to head out to B&B,
Rachel Trusty's stepfather's little "junk shop." I had
no sooner gotten out there than was ordered up into a truck to
start hauling stuff out. The truck was literally packed tight,
50 feet long with stuff piled up to the very top, filling every
crack and crevice there was. After a little while, Rachel hopped
up into the truck to help us out too. After a long morning of
work, I felt like I had aged about 30 years in mere hours. I could
barely move, much less pull around a couple water heaters. The
work was finally done, though, and I got my cash. I came on home,
changed into my swimsuit, and fell into the pool for a while.
The water was cold, I couldn't move, and eventually I started
to freeze over. I got out and crawled inside where I tried to
lie down for a while. I was so weak that I could barely pull the
covers up over myself. I rested there for quite a while. My aunt
called and offered to take my sister and me out to dinner later,
so when the time came, we got up and went to pick her up. We went
to Brangus where we met my cousin and her gang. We had a nice
steak dinner, or at least I did, and then came home. My sister
left the house to go out and do who knows what. Sarah Conley's
little friend Megan came up on Sarah's account and invited me
to go over there to hang out for a while with some others. They
came to pick me up, so I hopped into the car with Sarah, Christi
Bauer, and Janine Randles. We went off back to Sarah's house,
but on the way we happened upon a nice little wreck, an up-side-down
car, and a strange man that was questionably drunk or a bit slow
upstairs. Sarah called 911, and they got an ambulance, several
cops, a fire truck, and a partridge in a pear tree all to come
save the day. We finally got out of the place and headed the rest
of the way to Sarah's house. No sooner had we gotten there than
Christi got a call from her little boy toy, so she left the three
of us at Sarah's house. Megan's dad had come to pick her up, so
she was long gone by the time we got there. A little while later,
Christi came back to pick up Janine, and left Sarah and me there.
Sarah got online and talked Jacob Blalock into coming over as
well. She had to go pick him up as well, so we went off to get
him and returned to watch TV at Sarah's. After a while, she took
me back home where I tried to rest off the pain from my morning
job.

My sister never came home last night. I had to call her this
morning when I wanted the car. After calling her 3 times to wake
her up and order her home, she finally returned, only with some
strange guy. I had never seen him around before, but he was quite
tall, and I was quite sure I didn't like him in my house. My sister
took the car again after a little while to take him home, which
took quite a while considering she said he only lived near Arkansas
Tech. It took her around an hour, I would guess, to take him home.
I didn't do anything for most of the rest of the morning, but
later in the afternoon I got to play in the rain. I went to pick
up Angie Jennings, and then we went to pick up Rachel Trusty.
Jared Fitzgibbon came along eventually, and all of us piled into
my car to go to Old Post Park. When we got there, we just walked
around in the rain for a little while. Rachel splashed around
in puddles while the rest of us wandered under a little pavilion.
After a little while, we went up to Caudle Overlook to look around
for a little while. I finally had to take everyone home so they
could all go to church, though. I dropped off Jared and Rachel
at her house, and then Angie at her house, before stopping at
home myself. My sister tried to burn down the house in her attempt
to create cheese sticks, that ever-tasty treat made with Italian
bread crumbs and mozzarella cheese. Her final product was, what
I would call, more of a "cheese blob" than a "cheese
stick." Rachel said her stepfather needed some help out at
his "junk shop," and would pay me $50 to work out there
from 7 in the morning until around noon. I graciously accepted
the offer, in dire need of cash. Later that evening I went to
get Angie again, and we drove around for a little while. We went
out to see Mallory McKinney, and drove around with her for a little
while. It eventually got too late, so I took them home and then
came home to rest before my big day of work tomorrow.

7-28-01
I didn't do a whole lot today. I pretty much just got up and
sat around most of the day. I didn't do much work on my computer,
and I didn't go anywhere until later in the evening. Early in
the night, I went to see Angie Jennings, who was sitting at home
feeling quite miserable. My sister had the car, so I had to call
her to come take me over there. Angie and I just sat in her living
room for a while listening to music. She eventually kicked me
on out so she could rest some more. I called my sister to come
get me again, and she ran me back home. A little while later,
Travis Simpson came on wanting to go out, so we went for a late
night snack at Perkin's. My sister was still out, so he came to
pick me up. We had our little meal as we discussed the creation
of the earth as we know it, and how Florida is the only true piece
of land. The earth, we decided, was once comprised of two landmasses:
Florida and Africa, which were once joined as one continent. As
time passed, the great landmass was split into two separate continents.
As the population of the earth grew, we discussed, people had
a harder and harder time finding places to poop, thus making up
the rest of the land area we have today. I assure the topic was
much less disgusting, and much more humorous at the time. After
that he took me back home where I sat around for a while before
going to sleep.

7-27-01
I got up fairly early today to see if Angie Jennings had come
online. She wasn't, so I just kept trying to go back to sleep.
I got up again a couple hours or so before noon, started working
on this page, and eventually met up with her online. She helped
me remember little details about the past couple days so I could
regurgitate them for my logs. A while later, Travis Simpson asked
me to run him by Dustin Olson's house so he could get his truck
he had left there for whatever reason. After that we came back
to my house to hang out for a while. We sat in my room for a little
while, and then went out to swim. We stayed out there for quite
a while, but we got hungry and came inside. My sister, again,
brought home strange people. This time two people that I knew,
and one other I hadn't seen before. She tried to take the car,
but I lunged into it and locked her out. I could only hold her
away for a short while, though. I eventually had to get out and
let her take it. She made Travis move his truck, though, because
her novice skills in maneuvering a vehicle weren't honed enough
in the art of "backing up." She left, and soon after
Travis and I went back to his house to hang out for a while. He
made us a couple burgers in his nifty cooker thing, and we ate,
watched cartoons, and played a bit of Quake 3 Arena. After a while,
he gave me a ride back home where I sat for the rest of the night
pondering world domination and lunar colonization.

7-26-01
I woke up this morning around 3:00 in the morning when my alarm
went off. I went back to sleep for a little longer, and was lucky
to wake up almost an hour later. I went to wake up the girls before
we were too late. We didn't think we had much time, so we all
got up and ready to go. We jumped into the car and drove off,
first to a gas station, and then out to our great mountain. It
was a fun drive going up those curvy roads in the dark. We saw
several deer on the way up. When we finally reached the top, we
discovered we weren't alone. Some couple was up there on another
bench. We also discovered that the girls had forgotten to grab
their jackets, so they got quite chilly up in the high mountain
winds. We all cuddled up together, realizing we had gotten up
to the mountain early, even for the sunrise. The other couple
left, leaving behind a brief smell of alcohol in the wind. I can
only imagine a drunk trying to drive down the mountain. It slowly
got lighter behind the clouds, so we just had to settle for a
nice view of the city lights. Not even the sun was bright enough
to penetrate the thick clouds over the valley. It eventually got
bright enough for us to give up, so we went over to the other
side of the mountain to Danger Bluff. Angie wasn't feeling well,
so for the most part I stayed up top with her while Mallory climbed
down one part of the rock, and up another. After that we wandered
over to another rock. Angie and I sat down while Mallory climbed
down to the bottom. Then I decided to follow her down to give
her a walkie-talkie. We never actually used them, but it was fun
enough to actually chase after her. We finally made our way back
up, and lost Angie for a little while. We weren't sure where she
went, but Mallory found her perched on another rock. We went over
and sat down by her, looking over the side of the mountain opposite
of the city, over the trees and other mountains. By this time,
Angie was feeling really bad, so we went back down the mountain
and took her home. Mallory and I came back to my house and slept
until around noon. I had no sooner lifted my head and opened my
eyes, than she suggested we go see Angie. We went in and sat down
beside her on her futon. She still wasn't feeling well, so we
sat with her for an hour or so. Mallory picked up a book or two
to read, and I just sat by Angie trying to be at least a little
comforting. I don't think I was much help, but I continued on
anyway. Eventually we left so I could take Mallory home, and then
I went home and slept for the rest of the day, unable to do anything
else because my computer was dead. I woke up around midnight,
showered, and fixed my computer. I got messenger working, but
nobody was online, so I went back to sleep.

7-25-01
For some reason I got up really early this morning. Angie Jennings
came online after a little while, so I asked her out to breakfast.
We went by Sonic to grab the food, and then went to the high school
to eat there and see Mallory McKinney. Mrs. Little kicked us out
after a little while because they were about to get busy with
senior portraits, so Angie and I went around looking for other
people that might be awake. We drove by Rachel Trusty's house,
but we couldn't tell if she was up or not. Then we came back to
my house for a while. Angie got on my computer to talk to people,
and I just laid in bed for a while. She checked on directions
on how to get to Mt. Nebo, and we went up there to check things
out. It was a fun little ride up the mountain through those harsh
turns, and the car handled it well. We went over to Danger Bluff
first, going from rock to rock either to sit for a while, or check
out how the climb would be. After spending some time on that side
of the mountain, we moved over to the other side where we found
Sunrise Point, where we had planned to go tomorrow morning. We
spent a while up on the mountain, and then came back down to town.
We stopped by the bluffs up off of Skyline Drive, but she had
already been there before, so we didn't stop. I took Angie back
home because she had to clean her room, and I came back home to
wait for her to finish. Later, as I was leaving to pick her up
again, my mom gave me a check to pay our cable bill. I went to
get Angie, and we went back to the high school to check on how
Mallory was doing with senior portraits. She wasn't done yet,
so I went to pay the bill, and then took Angie by Goody's so she
could give them her job application. We went back to the high
school again and got Mallory. From there we went to my house to
hang out for a while. They played around online for a little while,
and then we all laid down and watched a movie. When it was over,
we took Mallory home so she could get some yard work done. She
didn't actually have to do anything, though, and she got permission
to come spend the night with us. We took Angie home so she could
get all cleaned up and ready for the night, and then picked her
back up a little later. She brought her back of stuff, along with
a mysterious little box. It was plainly labeled "NERDS,"
but the stuff had an obvious effect on her, more along the lines
of such substances as crack or cocaine. Both Angie and Mallory
were giggly all night. After a little while, Mallory had to call
home, and we wanted to go pick up some snacks. My mom was on the
phone, so we went by Angie's house so Mallory could use the phone.
Then we went grocery shopping and got various forms of chips and
dip, and a couple 2-liter bottles of drinks. We came back home
and went back to my room for a little while. My mom came in later
to tell me I had some laundry to fold, so Angie and Mallory went
out and snacked while I did that. After I finished folding my
clothes, I went out to join them. When we finished up out there,
we came back to my room where they laid around and giggled a bit
while I unwillingly, completely, and utterly destroyed the remnants
of my computer. I managed to get the thing to a point where it
would no longer function at all. I gave up for a little while,
and the three of us played around in the dark with my little black
light. We discovered various things that glowed, such as fingernails,
shirts, socks, and the occasional cyborg troll doll with big guns
and a fierce grin. It was about this time that my sister came
in, for reasons known only to herself, and let some strange male
figure poke his head in on our fun. I don't know him, nor do I
know why my sister had him in my home. They eventually left, though,
and I let the girls go back to their resting while I tried for
a little longer to fix my computer. Angie insisted she wasn't
tired, so Mallory and I had to laugh a little when she was the
first to fall asleep. I eventually gave up on my computer and
let them sleep while I went out into the living room for a while.
I eventually broke down and went to sleep on the couch in the
front room.

7-24-01
I had a pretty good day, for the most part. A little while after
getting up, I went to pick up Angie Jennings and then to swap
cars with my dad at work. From there we went to the snow cone
stand to see Sarah Conley for a bit. While she got some customers,
we ran over to the Dollar Store. Angie got a do rag with little
studs, and I got a little cigarette lighter that more accurately
represents some sort of futuristic torch, or some other method
of cutting thick metal. After that we ran home to drop off some
makeup she had gotten from Sarah so it wouldn't melt in the car.
No sooner had we come in than my sister ran out the door and stole
the car, so we had to wait around my house for her to come back.
When she finally returned, we went to the high school to see how
the senior portraits were coming along. We waited there for a
while, but there were too many people there, so I took Angie to
her hair appointment. She got a nice little new style, and then
we went back to the high school to get Mallory McKinney. We came
back to my house to shave her head. This turned out to be pretty
fun in itself. Just before we started, we ran back to Angie's
house for a quick second to meet her aunt and uncle. Then we went
back to my house to continue on with the shaving. She kept a couple
large pony tails of it, and then had Angie shave the rest off.
I took a few pictures and video taped a lot of it. After we finished
that up, we went back in to cool off for a bit. When we were ready
to go again, we went out only to discover that my sister had yet
again run off with the car. She had gone to her friend's house,
so we went out after her and tried to swap the car. We pulled
up right behind the car, jumped out, and ran as fast as we could
over and into the car. My sister had a bunch of stuff in the car
though, and I felt bad about just dumping it, so I tried to run
it over to the van. She ran out of the house, down the hill, and
jumped into the car faster than I thought was humanly possible.
I threw her stuff in the van and jumped back over to the car,
where the three of us put up with quite a verbal thrashing, and
I suffered severe flesh wounds, or at least was shoved into the
door and I felt that I should overdramatize the situation. We
gave up, beaten by the fierce monster I know as my sister, and
drove the van over to Mallory's friend's house, where the entire
family was shocked to see such a deed. Then we moved on to Angie's
house so her mom could see her handiwork. We came back to my house
to swim for a little while. Angie, despite the pieces of hair
all over her head and neck from her haircut, refused to jump in
with us. Mallory and I jumped in for a little while to cool off.
After that we changed back into some clothes and went inside for
a short while before leaving for a bible study at Mrs. Raines's
house. People kept trying to take away my torch of doom. When
that was over, rather than going to the prayer meeting, Angie
and Mallory decided to head on home. I dropped Angie off first,
and then took Mallory home. I was pretty tired the rest of the
night, and I eventually just fell asleep while I laid back in
bed to watch TV.

7-23-01
After I got up this morning, I went outside to check on how Hazel
was doing. She was still in the rabbit pen, but she wouldn't let
me anywhere near her. She seems to have adjusted alright, but
she's still really skittish. I came inside for a while and sat
on the computer. Angie Jennings came on and wanted to see how
she was doing as well. Travis Simpson came on later asking if
I wanted to go hang out. I headed on out and picked both of them
up. Angie got me a little Christianity booklet thing from Heart
and Soul. After we picked up Travis, we went by Tran's so he could
pick up his last paycheck, and then we went to the Dollar Store
by Kroger. We saw Nikki Holbrook at the snow cone stand, so I
ran off to see her for a quick second before running back to the
store to catch up with the others. We looked around there for
a little while, and then came back to my house. First we went
out back to check on Hazel, who had decided to hide deep in one
of many rabbit holes in the pen. After that we came back and hung
out in my room for a while. Mallory McKinney called, so I stuck
her on speaker phone so Angie and I could both talk to her. We
sat around for quite a while, but then Angie had to go back home
and get ready for a "crazy lady meeting." I took them
both home, and returned only to get bored sitting around by myself.
Not much happened the rest of the night. I stuck a little propellor
in front of my subwoofer, along with another smaller troll doll.
The hair on the trolls blows around, and the propeller gets to
spinning pretty quickly with the beat of the music I play. Later
that night, Angie said she wasn't feeling well, so I stayed online
for most of the morning in case she came online and wanted someone
to talk to. I tried playing around with some stuff on my computer,
and successfully "broke it." I'll probably format it
this weekend unless something big comes up.
|
7-22-01
I played games on into the night. I eventually had to go get
some sleep for the drive home. I just wandered up the stairwell
and fell asleep. It was quite satisfying, and I wasn't too sleepy
for the drive home. We packed things up around 9:30 and headed
home. I dropped Thomas Hollingsworth off at home, and then came
home myself I got my computer set back up in my room and got on
it for a little while before getting ready to go to Fort Smith
with my dad for the magic club's annual auction. He drove up there
while I slept. We bought a few items, two of which were a couple
watches. Mine is no substitute for my duct tape watch, but at
least now I have a nicer watch for more formal occasions. After
the meeting we stopped by Best Buy. Not spotting any great deals,
we came on home. My sister ran off with the mustang, but I didn't
really have anything planned anyway. I got to talking to Angie
Jennings later, and she had me come pick her and her rabbit Hazel
up to bring them over. Hazel had been getting wilder, and grew
too big for her cage, so I'm keeping her for Angie. We put her
in our rabbit pen outside and watched as our rabbits chased each
other around a bit. They fought at first, but I think they'll
make friends soon enough. We sat around and talked for a bit,
and then I took Angie back home and sat around for the rest of
the night. I played around online for a while, watched some TV,
showered, and got ready for bed.
|
7-21-01
Things got pretty quiet at the lock-in. More and more people
were going to sleep. Angie Jennings got really tired, so I took
her home and then went back. Around 7:30, it was time for people
to start waking up and getting ready to leave. When it was time
to go, I gave a couple people rides home that lived nearby, packed
up my machine, helped clean up around the church, and then went
home. From there it was time to begin my third consecutive day
of LAN partying. I got home, showered, and got ready to go. My
sister decided she wanted to take the Mustang out driving because
she just turned 16, but I had different plans. After a bit of
a brawl, I just left and went to get Thomas and head to the CAGL
LAN party in Little Rock. We had a little bit of trouble finding
the place, because it wasn't where I thought it was, and I wasn't
quite sure how to get there. We finally arrived though, and dragged
our computers up into the building through the hot sun. For most
of the early part of the LAN, my computer couldn't see any of
the network, I wasn't feeling well, and I was tired. Later we
found out my cable was bad, so we went out to get a new one. We
made our way back to the LAN party, and I had a pretty good time
because I was finally able to play.
|
7-20-01
Early in the morning, Thomas Hollingsworth suggested we go out
for donuts, so we went to Paradise Donuts to get some breakfast.
We got some for a couple others at the party, and I got some for
Angie Jennings as well. Thomas and I dropped by Mrs. Raines's
house to give them to Angie, who had just woken up when we arrived.
We talked for a little while, and then Thomas and I headed back
to the party. It wasn't too much longer until I had to go home
to take my mom to the Wal-Mart parking lot to catch the bus to
Tunica. After that I went home to shower and clean up a bit. When
I got back to Grant Hall's house, all the cars had gone, so I
went back home for a little while. I came back later to find that
everyone had gone home except Jacob Randles, who had to stick
around until 3:00. Grant and I played some Counter-Strike for
a while, and then he fell asleep. After a little bit more playing,
I went and slept on the floor myself. Later on I woke up when
it was time to go, so I packed up and left. I set my computer
back up in my room for a while. Jacob Blalock was still wanting
to have a LAN at his church's lock-in, so I had to go pick up
some networking equipment for him. I went to pick up Angie, who
had returned home after Mrs. Raines returned from her trip, and
we went up to Thomas's house to pick up a switch and some cable.
From there we went to find Mitch Graham, who was actually at his
house. He agreed to move the LAN party from his house to the church
and have a big joint party. Some of the people we were expecting
didn't show up, but we had a great time anyway. First we went
to the sanctuary and listened to the band play for about an hour
or so, and then we went to play. I hadn't brought my computer
yet, so I ran home to get it and returned to set up and play.
I didn't play much over the course of the night, though. I was
either helping people set up or just taking a break from things
and hanging out with other people around other parts of the church.
I had a great time just hanging out, and I met a few new people.
Several people went to sleep, which was strange because I didn't
figure that was the idea of a lock-in. It was pretty exciting,
from the band, to the gaming, to the fist fight that broke out
at one point during the wee hours of the morning.

7-19-01
Today's been a really long, yet fun day. I slept most of the
morning, getting up occasionally to check messages from Angie
Jennings. After my dad got home from work, he, my mom, and I went
over to my aunt's to eat. She had mistaken the days and started
cooking for my grandfather's death today instead of tomorrow.
We had our meals, and then shortly afterwards we came home. As
soon as I got back, I started packing up my computer for Grant
Hall's LAN party. I took my things over and got set up, but then
I went to see Angie Jennings for a short while. She was tired,
so I didn't keep her up long. I came back to the LAN party and
played for quite a while before several of us went out for some
food. I made a quick run for food and then returned for a long
night of gaming.

7-18-01
Today was my sister's birthday. Happy birthday, Julie. My mom
woke me up and said to get ready to go out to eat. I didn't feel
like it, but I also didn't realize it was my sister's birthday.
I figured my mom just wanted to go out to New China to eat. I
went back to sleep for the rest of the day. Here's a rather crude
timeline of my day: sleep, sleep, sleep, kill, sleep, sleep, sleep,
sleep, sleep, kill, kill, kill, sleep, sleep, talk, sleep, sleep,
eat, sleep, sleep, sleep.
After such a worthless, useless, nonproductive, boring day, I
think I'm about ready to go to bed. I don't know why I even bother
to wake-up any more. I wish my family would just let me sleep
for the rest of my life, and the telemarketers and other phone
reps would quit calling and waking me up. On the other hand, I
sure could go for one of those "morning wakeup calls"
and a quick jump down into a rocky chasm.
|
7-17-01
I woke up today when Angie Jennings and Mallory McKinney called
me. They insisted that I go do things with them, so I got up,
got dressed, munched on some chicken, and then ran out the door.
My dad took the car to work, so I had to drive the van around.
After picking them up, we went out to Old Post Park up on Caudle
Overlook. We ventured through the forest to do a bit of rock climbing.
We bounced around like mountain goats for a while, up and down
various parts of the rock. We climbed back up another part of
it, and went up the hill to rest for a while. Then we came back
to my house to hang out for quite a while. My mom got on my case
about how "I drive recklessly, I don't care about my passengers,"
and some jazz like that. I'm doing my best to ignore her now because
if I don't I'll only dig myself deeper. So here I am, bound by
the chains of a whiny mother, unable to go about my otherwise
happy day. I had to get out of the house, and Angie and Mallory
wanted me to go to Mrs. Raines's house for a bible study anyway,
so I had my parents take us up there. We sat and listened to our
little lesson and talked for a little while. Then everyone wanted
to go see if the prayer meeting at First Baptist Church was still
going on. The lights were out, so we rode on to the Bartlett household
where we actually found out the church does their prayer meetings
in the dark. We went back to the church for just a short while,
and then headed back to Mrs. Raines's house. She got on the phone,
and the rest of us went down to her stairs to sit and talk. Around
11:00, it was time to head out, so we went up to say goodbye,
and Jared Fitzgibbon gave us all rides home. I got on my computer
for a little while, but was tired from several straight days of
activity, and had to get some sleep.

Today was our last day in Tunica and Memphis. We started out
pretty slowly, dragging along and not wanting to leave the room.
The maids, or "trolls" as they were soon called, kept
knocking on our door telling us to leave. Thomas Hollingsworth
and Grant Hall ordered breakfast through room service. It was
quite overpriced, but it came with cute little bottles of ketchup,
A1 sauce, and salt and pepper shakers. My mom eventually got up
to shove us out of our room, we packed things up in the van, and
then we went to the buffet to eat. Some, or perhaps most of us
were sick of the buffet, but it was free, and we didn't have too
many other options there. Thomas stayed in the room to shower
while the rest of us went to eat. After that we left the hotel
and the casino to go to an arcade at another casino. My mom and
aunt went in to gamble while those of us under the legal gambling
age of 21 played some really great arcade games. After not nearly
enough gaming, I ran out of money and went to get my mom and aunt
from the casino. Thomas and Robert Couser came along just to ride
the shuttle bus. They eventually got tired of waiting at the casino,
so I waited for my mom and aunt to come along. My aunt came out
with two armfuls of water bottles, gave them to me, and then went
back in to get my mom. I went back to the arcade to wait for them.
Eventually they came along and we started heading home. We stopped
for gas and for some new batteries for our radios we were using
to talk from car to car. After that we dropped by McDonald's and
Kentucky Fried Chicken for food, and continued on home. Most of
the way home, I got stuck in some slow traffic that Mitch had
somehow gotten ahead of, and they ran on home. When we got into
town, I dropped my aunt off at home, then took Robert Couser home,
and finally came home myself. Mitch Graham and Grant came by a
little while later so Grant could get his machine. They hung out
for a little while, but then Mitch left and I took Grant home
with his computer. When I got back home, I caught up on E-mails
and everything from over the weekend, and now that I'm finally
done with that I think I'm tired enough to go clean up and have
a nice long night of sleep tonight.

First and foremost, I'd like to remind everyone that today has
been deemed by some country or organization to be Cow Appreciation
Day. I'm not sure who made it up, when they made it up, or even
why they made it up. All I know is that it was in an E-mail I
got, so it must be true.
After getting up, we went down to get some food before heading
back to the CompUSA in Memphis. I didn't eat, still full from
the buffet the night before. It was an hour or so drive there,
so we had to rush things a bit. We didn't even make it there on
time, but they let us play anyway. Our first match was against
the CompUSA team themselves. I'm not sure if it was our skill
or their lack thereof, but we completely stomped them. Grant Hall
wasn't even there for most of the first part of it, because his
computer was out. Eventually he borrowed one from someone else.
We weren't quite so lucky during our second game though. We played
hard, and ended the game just one away from a tie. We were pretty
upset about the score being so close, but we played well, and
I was proud of it. Everyone seemed to enjoy watching us play,
and in the end, the guy running the event took us out to take
a couple group pictures of us. We packed up and headed back to
the hotel for a while. We decided not to take our computers in
because it was so late. As soon as we got a hold of my mom again,
we had her take us down for some more food. I stuffed myself again.
Thomas Hollingsworth hadn't been feeling good, so he skipped out
on the buffet and just ordered a salad through room service. The
rest of us went to a casino next door that had an arcade. Half
of the games were broken, so after a bit of gaming we went back
to the room. My mom and aunt were going to spend all night in
the casino losing money, so Thomas went to their room for some
peace and quiet, and eventually we all fell asleep again.

Today started out well. I got up early to pack up and get ready
to go to Memphis for the Counter-Strike tournament. I packed up
my clothes, but my was still using my computer. Mitch Graham was
the first one to arrive here, followed closely by Robert Couser
and Grant Hall. Mrs. Couser came in to talk to my parents for
a little while, and the others and I started packing things into
the van. Thomas Hollingsworth finally arrived, and packed his
stuff up in Mitch's car. Soon we were ready to begin our journey
to what seemed like the other side of the world. We stopped first
to pick up Grant's suitcase he had forgotten at home, second to
drop a Nintendo game off for Angie Jennings, third to pick up
my aunt, fourth to Compute to rejoin Mitch and Thomas who had
gone left for there earlier, fifth to the bank so Mitch could
get some money, sixth to Hardee's to get some breakfast, and then
finally we were on our way. Mitch and Thomas flew to Memphis as
if they were attempting some sort of time travel while the rest
of us flew at a slightly less sporty speed in a slightly less
sporty vehicle. Traffic was bad, but we made it there. It turns
out both of us had gotten lost at one point or another, and they
only arrived at the CompUSA about 10 minutes before we arrived.
We unloaded our computers and started to practice. My mom and
aunt went to get the hotel rooms and gamble for a while at the
casinos. As it turned out, we didn't even play our leg of the
tournament that day. We packed up when it was time to go, and
awaited the return of my mother to pick us up. She had gotten
lost herself, and arrived a couple hours late. We packed up and
headed to the casino. We unloaded all of our stuff, computers
and all, and headed up to our hotel rooms. My mom and aunt had
one room, and the rest of us had another. We had gotten suites
with nice big beds, a couch, and even a small TV in the bathroom.
After that we headed down to get some food from the buffet. Everyone
seemed to enjoy, for the most part, and then we headed back to
the room to create our little network and play some games. Grant
tried to swap out for a new motherboard and processor, ultimately
making his computer unusable in the end. He stayed up all night
trying to fix the thing, while eventually everyone else fell asleep.

Happy Friday the 13th, everyone! Today's curse is : The world's
longest Galloping Cow log! I got up today just before noon and
got on the computer for a while. I talked to Angie Jennings to
see if she wanted to run around town for a bit. I wanted to drop
off my job application at Staples, among other things. I went
to take a shower, and shortly after I had gotten in, a nice big
roach fell down in with me. We were intimate friends from then
on, seeing each other naked and all. After I showered, I got dressed
and started working on my application. My parents went to our
old house to do some work on the new door that was installed.
My Staples application was long and boring, so I went to get Angie
and brought her back home to work on it with me. We laid back
while she read through it, making fun of anything she could. I
never actually got the form finished, so we sat around in my room
for a little while before heading out. I had to go find Mitch
Graham to talk to him about the CompUSA Counter-Strike tournament
in Memphis this weekend. We drove around looking for him, but
to no avail. Finally we returned home to find the address of the
Boys and Girls Club in town. My sister wanted to drive, so we
let her take us there in the Mustang. She handled it fairly well,
but she was still a bit rough at times. We found Mitch in a back
room at the Boys and Girls Club, standing among a hive of young
spawn playing computer games and fragging each other left and
right. He had them playing all sorts of games on both computers
and consoles. I had never seen so many small children playing
killing games in one place. His army of darkness has finally begun,
and I'm sure that Lord Mitch will soon reign. We decided to meet
at the coffee shop later to talk about the tournament this weekend.
My sister drove us on over to our old house to see what our parents
were up to. Our mom had forgotten some pork in the oven, so she
had us run back to take it out really quick. It hadn't burned,
luckily, so we headed back out. First we drove by the coffee shop
to see if Mitch had gotten there yet. Then my sister took us back
to our parents to try and weasel some gas money out of them. We
got 3 bucks and headed to the nearest gas station. I took the
$3 and placed it squarely in my wallet, removing my credit card
and filling up the tank completely. At this rate, by the year
2005 I should be as far in debt as Bill Gates is rich. We continued
on to the coffee shop and waited around for Mitch. He finally
arrived so we could talk about the trip to Memphis in more detail.
After a bit of discussion, he followed us to my house because
he couldn't even remember where I lived. From there we called
Thomas Hollingsworth to finish filling Mitch in on all the details.
He'll be driving there as well, so it won't be quite as tight
for us all to fit in the van. From there, Angie and I left my
sister home to check out Mitch's house. We stayed there for a
while, but then decided to head back out again. At first Mitch
was going to go with us, but then finally decided to stay home.
Angie and I ran around town, running by the coffee shop a couple
more times as we looked for Sarah Conley. We never found her,
but we eventually stopped at the coffee shop and went inside for
a while. She eventually got sleepy, so I took her home and came
home myself. I set the roach I had caught free, although I believe
it to be mostly dead anyway. After showering and cleaning up,
I think I'm tired enough to get some good deep sleep tonight.

7-12-01
I didn't do much at all today. I was still a bit tired from yesterday,
and nobody else really wanted to do anything, so I sat around
all day watching TV and playing the computer. I tried to play
a bit of Counter-Strike, but people kept killing me. Later in
the evening my friend, Melanie Tompkins from Knoxville Tennessee,
came on and talked to me for a while. She had just gotten a scanner
and a web cam. I showed her how to start up NetMeeting, and we
had a nice little cam chat going on for quite a while. She actually
had a camera just like, or very similar to mine, and for the same
price : free! We had a lot of fun just making faces at each other,
but then she went to bed. Soon after that I went to bed myself.

7-11-01
Today was awesome. I was supposed to go out boating with Lisa
Horan, but I slept too late and never got a call, so I didn't
go. Then in the early afternoon I got a nice wake-up call from
Angie Jennings. She and Mallory McKinney wanted to go up to 40
Acre Rock. My mom had taken my sister to band camp practice, so
I had to wait for their return. When they did, my mom offered
to make me a sandwich, so I waited around for quite a while until
that was finished and I could eat. Then I ran off to pick up the
girls and we headed to 40 Acre Rock. We climbed up both of the
main rocks to check out the view, and then Mallory and I followed
Angie as she climbed around all over the place. It was pretty
fun, and afterwards we came back to my house to go for a swim.
We stopped by Angie's house for a while so she could take a quick
shower before lunging into the pool. Mallory played some pool
while I stood back and taunted her. I was aware of the large stick
she could swing, and the heavy balls she could hurl, but I continued
anyway until Angie finished and we headed to my house. We swam
for quite a while. The water felt quite good after the climb.
Angie got hungry and offered to buy us dinner at Subway, so we
went to get the food and then went to the city park to eat and
play. After playing around there for a while, we went to TCBY
for some ice cream, and then went to get ready for a night climb.
We wanted to climb back up 40 Acre Rock to see what the view would
be like of the city and the sky. We stopped by Angie's so she
could change shoes, then by my house to pick up a couple of flashlights.
It was still too light outside to start heading up the rock, so
we drove around taking a somewhat scenic route. We got some pretty
nice views of scenic and natural Arkansas. When it finally got
dark enough, we headed up the rock. We all laid down up there
and just looked at the sky. The city was a bit too far away and
covered up by too many trees in the distance, so we couldn't really
get a great view of the lights. Angie started getting a bit dizzy,
so we headed back down. We went by Kroger to get some drinks,
and then just sat in some chairs right between both automatic
doors in the room where they keep the carts. We sat there and
scared customers while we chilled with our drinks. After that
we headed back to my house to hang out for a while. We laid by
the pool for a while, and then went inside for a while longer.
I had to run back out to turn off the pool light, and when I came
back in both the girls looked like they were passed out in my
bed. We all laughed for a bit and I snapped a couple pictures.
Then I pointed my webcam at them and sent the URL to everyone
that was online at the time. We all thought it was funny. They
just sat in bed and waved at the millions of visitors of Galloping
Cow. We sat around doing that for a while, but then it was time
to take everyone home. I took Mallory home first so Angie could
just enjoy my driving for a bit longer. I dropped Angie off at
home, and then came home myself, completely exhausted. I laid
down for a little while and eventually fell asleep.

7-10-01
I fell asleep last night after lighting up the opium scented
incense that Angie Jennings had gotten me a while back. I didn't
notice anything much when I woke up, but after leaving my room
and then coming back in, the smell hit me like a big brick wall,
and a hard one at that. Later I talked with Thomas Hollingsworth
about Damage
Gaming and things. I did a bit of work on a design for that
page, but nothing's finished yet. Travis Simpson asked if I wanted
to go run around with him later, so I took a nap until he came
over around 3:30. We ran around town so he could get some job
applications. I went ahead and got one from Staples while we were
out. After that we stopped by my house for a little while, and
then went to his house where we spent the rest of the evening.
We played some Quake 3 Arena, and then I sat down to watch a bit
of Dragon Ball Z with him. Surely I can't be the only one on earth
that doesn't like that show. I'd never actually sat down and watched
it before, and now that I have I feel I've wasted a good half
an hour or so of my life that I can never get back. Lisa Horan
invited me along to go boating tomorrow, so that should be fun.
I've never actually been on a boat like that before. After that
I came back home and scanned some more pictures for this site.
After putting it off for far too long, pictures of fifth grade
camp and several random pictures from the end of my senior year
of high school are up.

7-9-01
I didn't accomplish a whole lot today. I did, however, spend
most of the daylight hours awake. Angie Jennings and I were going
to go run around, but she wasn't feeling up to it, so I just never
left the house. I talked with Thomas Hollingsworth for quite a
while about the Damage network, as we're trying to rebuild, redesign,
and refine all of the web sites. He set today as the launch date
for the Damage
Gaming web site, but it has yet to be up, so I got to work
on a little design, just to play around. I personally think it's
gay, but it's better than having a simple line of text saying,
"Opening Yesterday." I watered my mom's garden, finishing
just before she arrived home from Tunica. Usually she brings home
some food like ribs or something, but this time she brought home
a giant wad of bread. I assume it would be wisest to bring home
some of the best, most expensive food from the place, as it's
given to her free. However, perhaps this bread has magical qualities
that made her deem it worthy of taking home. I'll not rule out
the possibilities that it can make a person fly like superman,
but I'll wager it'll, at most, relinquish hunger for a short while.
I've finally scanned in some pictures I had lying around, so
be sure to check out the Pictures
page for those updates. There are certainly enough to keep one
entertained for at least a few moments, and is definitely more
exciting than watching someone's abs pulsate from an AbTronic
device on late night TV infomercials.

7-8-01
I didn't go to sleep last night. I just stayed up and played
Counter-Strike all night. Angie Jennings finally got up and we
talked about going to church later. I finally decided to go ahead
and get dressed to go. I went to her house to meet her and Rachel
Trusty at 9:15. It was fairly difficult, because that's only an
hour or so later than when I've been going to bed for the past
few weeks. I managed to survive the service without my body trying
to shut down on me. Afterwards, Jared Fitzgibbon and I left while
the rest of the gang went to Sunday school. When we got home,
Jared and I played a few rounds of Counter-Strike before my computer
decided it was tired of working. I waited around until around
12:30 to see when the others would get home from Sunday school,
but I couldn't hold my body upright any longer. I went to sleep
for a little while, getting up once or twice to see and answer
a message I had gotten. I managed to sleep all day until around
8:00 when it was time to water my mom's garden. My dad had started
it already, because I was still groggy from just waking up. After
a bit of adjustment, I managed to regain my ability to walk again,
and went out to finish the job. Just as I was finishing up outside,
I took a nasty spill, tripping on the corner edge of some concrete
where we haven't yet built steps for the deck, and I scraped myself
up pretty well. I was too lazy to get back up, but my dad came
along and I felt it was important to show him I was still alive.
I came back in, chatted a bit online, watched some TV, and eventually
started getting ready for bed. My sister went out with her friend
that just turned 16 at midnight. I suppose he couldn't wait any
longer to run around without adult supervision. I think I'm tired
enough now to actually go to bed at a reasonable time.

7-7-01
I had a great day today. I got up, and shortly after received
a call from Thomas Hollingsworth. We talked about the upcoming
Central Arkansas
Gaming League LAN party, and I went to register for it on
their site. That'll be later this month. After that I got ready
to go out and do some stuff with Angie Jennings. I called Travis
Simpson to see what he was up to and if he'd want to run around
with us as well. I went to pick up Angie, and we drove around
town for a bit before heading up to Travis's house. We hung out
there for a while until my dad paged me and said he and my sister
were ready to go out to eat. I invited Angie and Travis along,
so all 5 of us went out to eat at CiCi's Pizza. I ate about a
week's worth of food, which surprised me since I haven't been
eating much at all lately. After that my dad and sister went home,
and the three of us raped the quarter machines. After that we
came back to my house for a short while to see if I had any boxes
of Nerds left. I didn't, so we went back to drop Travis off at
home. To kill some time before Lisa Horan was to get off of work,
Angie and I went driving all around town again. We drove up over
the mountain to see city lights, and then back down and went up
to 40 Acre Rock. We climbed up a little ways, stopping because
Angie's boots weren't fit for climbing. We sat back and talked
about life, the universe, and everything. After that we fumbled
back down the rocks and headed back into town. We stopped by her
house so she could change shoes. Then we stopped by Four Seasons
to see what Lisa and Travis were up to. Lisa didn't really feel
like going to the coffee shop with us, so we left them and went
driving around some more. Angie and I drove by the coffee shop
a couple times to see who was there. Few people of interest, we
headed on out to Dardanelle Lake State Park. It was closed though,
and the rangers were already out clearing the place out, so we
left there and went to the city park instead. We had quite a bit
of fun there, swinging, climbing big metal contraptions, hopping
on tree roots, and bouncing on cheap imitation seesaws. We stopped
for a while to talk about religion and the meaning of life. 42
wasn't good enough, so she invited me to church tomorrow. Wish
my sleep schedule the way it is, church starts right after my
bed time. We sat and talked for quite a while before leaving the
park. We stopped to get something to drink, we drove around a
bit more, and then I dropped her back off at home and I returned
home to an empty house. Not much later, my dad and sister got
back from wherever they were. I played around on the computer
for a bit, and then washed up to go to bed.

7-6-01
Thomas Hollingsworth called me this morning to get ready for
our day of errand-running. I got up, wiped the sleep from my eyes,
and started getting ready. Angie Jennings finally popped up again.
Yesterday was her birthday, but I never saw her, so I didn't get
to wish her a happy birthday. I suppose I could wish her a happy
day-after-your-birthday day. I expected to see her around sooner,
the way a bunch of us were talking about throwing a surprise party
or going out to do something to celebrate. As it turned out, Mrs.
Raines and some others threw her a surprise party, so Angie wasn't
around much of the day. After talking with Angie for a short while,
she left and I finished getting ready for my outing. My dad came
along to fetch the van from the Wal-Mart parking lot. We went
to pick up Thomas, and then ran all around town for Damage LAN
business. We stopped by several sign shops for some quotes on
some banners for our LAN parties. We stopped by Perkin's for lunch,
ran around some more, and went to his dad's shop for quite a while
waiting on a delivery from Fed Ex. We got our 24 port switches
in, so we unwrapped those to check them out. After waiting a while,
we decided to go to El Matador to see Ashley Hardin at work. We
sat there munching on chips and cheese dip for quite a while when
we finally asked if she was there. It turns out she called in
sick, so we didn't get to see her. We ran around town a bit more
to finish up some things, and then I took Thomas back home and
returned home myself. I thought about going out to the coffee
shop for a bit, but decided I wasn't really up for it. I went
outside to water my mom's garden, the plants thanked me, and then
I jumped into the pool for a couple minutes to cool off from the
day. I came back inside, talked to Angie Jennings online for a
while, and then played some awesome Counter-Strike matches with
Thomas, Robert Couser, and Jonathan To. I've been getting quite
a bit better, actually. I've learned to buy items a lot quicker,
aim more accurately, and kill more efficiently. That's not to
say I don't still suck, but at least now I get a few kills every
now and then. I talked with Lacey Whitman for a short while, and
then started winding down for the day. I think I've started to
slowly move my schedule back towards what would be considered
"normal" by most human beings. Angie said she would
go to the coffee shop with me tomorrow, so I suppose I should
get some sleep so I'll be able to remain conscious during the
daylight hours of tomorrow.
|
7-5-01
I awoke early this evening after a long day of sleep. One of
these days I may flip my schedule around, but right now I simply
don't feel like it. I sat around all day, with few people online
to talk to, and a world outside just winding down for the day.
Later I went outside to begin my lessons in garden watering with
my mom. She showed me the dos and don'ts of watering her precious
herbal cultivation. According to the professor herself, I must
count to 40 while watering the towering banana trees, spray flowers
with a light mist, and travel twice over my path as to make sure
the beautiful greenery shall not know the ungodly feeling of thirst.
I talked to Lacey Whitman again for a while, and she actually
called to talk for a little while. At this point the remainder
of my family felt it was necessary to gather in my room to literally
sit and watch me talk on the phone while playing my game of Mega
Man X. This is when the coolest thing on earth happened. I managed
to play and acquire Ryu's fireball attack just earlier in the
game. I went through Sigma's first stage of enemies and was to
face the first boss. Just playing around, I decided to fire one
of these fireballs at the enemy. I had not fired anything prior
to this, and to my extreme delight I defeated the enemy in one
hit. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed
it. I nearly died in ecstatic laughter. I can now sleep peacefully
at night (or day, as it were), knowing the full potential of this
fireball wonder. I mixed some KoolAid, played some Counter-Strike
with Thomas Hollingsworth, and then showered to get ready for
bed.

7-4-01
Happy birthday, America. Please, children, blow things up. My
family left me around 10 in the morning for Little Rock. My sister
went off to the *N Sync concert while the rest of my family did
their best to stay occupied while they were the concert to end.
Meanwhile, back home, life is more boring than ever before in
recorded Galloping Cow history. Susi LeMaire called around noon,
so we talked for a while. After that I went back to sleep for
a few hours and got up in the late afternoon. Everyone else had
plans for today, so nobody was around. I eventually got dressed
and left the house in the evening, and went to try and find some
friends at the fireworks show at the park. I walked around the
thing twice over, and then walked way up to Caudle Overlook to
see if anybody was there. By the time I reached the top, the show
was over and people were starting to leave. I wandered on back
down and around the park once more, still unable to find anyone
I knew. I drove around town a bit looking for any sign of human
life. As far as I could tell, the fireworks were really alien
spacecraft abducting everyone in town. I couldn't find anyone.
On one last run, I passed Jared Fitzgibbon heading over to drop
Angie Jennings off at home, so I spun around and said all of about
half a dozen words to Angie as she started heading inside. Then
I ran on home because the few people I knew were out had split
up and gone home. I spent most of the day at home alone, got all
hot, sweaty, and tired looking for friends at the park at night,
and then when I finally returned home I discovered something had
knocked the screen top off of the fish tank I had my two roaches
in, so they escaped. No more pet roaches. Thus the voting of names
is closed. I think it's just one of those days where life is against
me.
Being in somewhat of a bad mood, I almost just ignored a message
from someone on ICQ. She wasn't on my list, and I had assumed
it would just be some stupid chatter that I wouldn't want to deal
with. I went ahead and replied and started talking to her. Her
name was, and in fact still is, Lacey, and she's going to be moving
into town this fall when she starts going to Tech. She's also
majoring in computer science, so we hit it off pretty well. We
chatted for a couple hours until she decided to go to sleep. I
went to take a shower after a long day, and am now ready for some
good old fashioned sleep myself. Too bad I'm a freaking nocturnal
computer troll and it's 6:00 in the morning. I suppose I'll go
play some Counter-Strike before heading to bed.
|
7-3-01
Travis Simpson woke me up this morning around 7:00 because he
was leaving. After showing him out, I went back to sleep for several
more hours. When I finally got up again in the late afternoon,
things were as exciting, or perhaps unexciting, as usual. Thomas
Hollingsworth said they discovered that his dog has some form
of cancer, so best wishes towards the little canine and his family.
Later on, my aunt called to tell us our other house, that is to
say the house we've been renting out to another nice fellow, was
broken into the previous night. Both of my parents went to check
things out. From what I hear, a couple kids broke in, stole a
gun, and drank a can of lemonade from the fridge. Now folks, I'm
not exactly an expert on burglary, but if I were to - and I'd
like to reassure you that I won't - rob someone, I would take
the more valuable items, and certainly not kick back to a movie
after grabbing a nice, cold lemonade from the fridge. Furthermore,
I would not then leave the can, or the TV for that matter, at
the scene of the crime. For those of you planning on breaking
into my house, drinking a bottle of Bawls, and leaving, for the
sake of integrity, steal my TV, pawn it, and then buy your own
freaking case of that ever-so-refreshing drink!
On another note, Susi LeMaire called me wondering why all of
her contacts on MSN Messenger had suddenly been deleted. I, being
a cofounder of Microsoft, and in general an all-knowing god, explained
to her exactly what happened, or that is to say, I told her what
I thought might have happened. Later, Karee Shatwell messaged
me on MSN saying the same thing had happened to her. I suppose
I should feel lucky that my MSN retained all 75 of those wonderful
people on my list, even the ones that refuse to loan me $5,000
for a motorcycle. Later on in the night, I stumbled upon another
insect friend, and for whatever reason decided to keep it as well.
I now have two pet roaches, neither named. It looks like they
shall remain that way until I get more than 4 votes,
especially when each of the 4 votes is for a different name.
Maybe I gave you people too many choices.

7-2-01
After about two hours of sleep, I got up to go to my dentist
appointment. It took all of about 15 minutes, and then I came
home to my wonderful world of computer fun. I watched some TV
and a movie. Travis Simpson said he was going to run around town
a bit, so I convinced my parents to let me go out for a while
after working on getting my old computer up and running again.
I had many problems trying to install its hard drive on my current
machine, thus making me unable to backup the files I needed. My
dad and I are still playing around with the thing trying to get
it to work in one of the other two machines in the house. Travis
showed up and had to sit around for a bit while I tried to install
the hard drive, but eventually I gave up and we went out to Wal-Mart.
After that we went back to his house and worked on some stuff
for his site for a little while, and then headed back to my house
to go swimming. On the way, we stopped by Lisa Horan's work so
he could go see her for a bit. After he came back out we continued
on to my house. After we got there, we ran a check by Robert Couser's
house for his prize from the first Damage
Gaming tournament. He was quite happy with the check, and
referred me to his gang's new web site, Sonic
Hardware. Travis and I went out to swim, and after a while
Lisa showed up and just sat by the pool and talked to us. Travis
was to spend the night, so Lisa went on home when it got late,
and Travis and I came inside to play video games for a while.
We developed quite a case of the munchies, not having dinner earlier
in the day, so we went to Perkin's for a nice truck-stop meal.
It was quite good, and after we ate we just sat around and talked
for a while. I drove leisurely home, and decided to track how
far I biked the other night, and came up with an almost even four
miles. Then we made it back to my house to play some more video
games, and eventually crash for the night. So far I've only had
three votes for my new pet roach's name, so keep those votes rolling
in!

I got up fairly early today, compared to when I usually wake
up, when Thomas Hollingsworth called me. I checked out his new
design for Damage
LAN, and then went back to sleep for a few hours. When I finally
got up again, I spent quite a while trying to update the Live!Ware
for my Sound Blaster Live!. I finally gave up because their update
patch was, quite plainly, gay. It refused to simply upgrade properly,
and a fresh install was simply unacceptable. The rest of the day
was pretty much munching on all things edible and watching TV.
I to convince my parents that a motorcycle would be a perfect
graduation gift, as they haven't gotten me anything yet, but they
kept blowing me off with their old "we don't have any money"
excuse. I went out for another bike ride after nightfall. For
the most part I took the same path I took when I rode over to
Olin's house the other night, but I never crossed Main Street.
I circled around and rode around a bit more, and then started
heading home. After I got back, I went out to cool off in the
pool for a little while. I had gotten out and gone into the cabana
when I spotted a huge roach scurrying away from the bathroom light
I had turned on. Normally I would have squashed the little critter,
but instead I went back to the house and got a plastic container
to catch it with. My dad gave me a handkerchief to stretch over
the top and keep him in, while at the same time allowing him to
breathe. I dropped a piece of a Ritz cracker in, and gave him
a few drops of water. He seemed pretty content with the cracker,
and kept munching away while I watched some more late night TV.
Why am I keeping this strange critter in a plastic container and
giving it food instead of squashing it like the little infester
that it is, you ask? I don't know. I guess it's partly because
it's been so boring and lonely around here lately. I can't find
many nocturnal friends, so I've turned to the realm of the insect.
I suppose the next order of business would be to decide what to
name this frighteningly homely, parasitic little vermin. It's
time for a little interaction, folks. Place your votes here!
